Malaga-based designer Rafael Urquizar has recently unveiled his latest collection, OTTO, at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Madrid. Esperanza González, leading the Málaga de Moda campaign under the provincial authority, expressed the significance of this occasion, highlighting Rafael Urquizar as the inaugural Málaga de Moda designer selected by MBFW Madrid for this prestigious international fashion expo. The event is considered a pivotal moment within the fashion sphere.
In this collection, Urquizar preserves his hallmark style, accentuating contrasts in volumes within jackets, dresses, and skirts. You’ll discover shirt dresses with midi lengths alongside various trousers and jumpsuits in differing cuts. The designer gravitates towards brocade and embroidered prints while employing fabrics like crepe, knit, silk chiffon, and micro sequins. Vibrant hues like yellow, stone, gold, grape, basalt, as well as his classic black-and-white combinations, reign over the color palette.
Rafael Urquizar described OTTO as being inspired by intense emotions he experienced, reminiscing about Otto, his most devoted furry companion. He stated that the collection encapsulates feelings of hope, happiness, loyalty, unconditional love, sadness, and the longing for a reunion. These emotions are reflected in designs crafted for an authentic and confident woman, unafraid to express her true self and acknowledging and embracing these sentiments within herself.
Additionally, Urquizar highlighted that debuting OTTO at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, alongside support from Málaga de Moda, presents an opportunity not just for himself but also for the entire fashion scene in Malaga.
