Glamorous Unveiling: Tiffany & Givenchy Collaboration Lights Up Fifth Avenue

Early September saw an elegant gathering at the Tiffany Landmark store on Fifth Avenue, captivating the guests with Nathalie Verdeille’s presentation of a high jewelry collection in collaboration with Givenchy. This marked the first-time partnership between the LVMH brands, curated by CR’s editor-in-chief Carine Roitfeld. The intimate presentation paid tribute to the intertwined history of these houses, a history that unfolded just three floors below.

Amidst Tiffany’s Love and Engagement collections, situated on the third floor of the Landmark store and aptly named “All About Love,” the soft morning light of Manhattan illuminated the opulent ivory interiors of the room, creating an ideal setting for the unveiling of the American jeweler’s “Blue Book 2023: Out Of The Blue” collection.

At street level, the window displays, reflecting onto Fifth Avenue, continue to evoke the iconic image of Audrey Hepburn savoring her croissant and coffee. She stood there, dressed in a Givenchy gown, adorned with sunglasses, and adorned with a pearl-studded collar. This image effortlessly comes to mind, even without any prompting – it remains a timeless symbol of aspirational glamour, enduring for 62 years since the release of “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”

As the models gracefully descended the spiral staircase surrounding Daniel Arsham’s Tiffany Blue-patinated bronze statue, it became apparent that the enduring allure of Hepburn’s Holly Golightly had influenced the creation of the 20 runway ensembles. These ensembles consisted of 15 original haute couture outfits and five ready-to-wear garments from Givenchy’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection, designed by Matthew M. Williams. Each ensemble was meticulously coordinated with the exquisite Tiffany & Co. high jewelry pieces, whether it involved diamond necklaces gracefully draping down the back of backless dresses or the pairing of a lilac gown with tanzanite gems in the same captivating hue. Every outfit served as a testament to the seamless fusion of haute couture and the craftsmanship of high jewelry.

Staying true to its name, Verdeille’s “Blue Book 2023: Out Of The Blue” collection draws inspiration from the whimsical underwater themes that resonated with Tiffany & Co. designer Jean Schlumberger during his era. It builds upon established motifs such as coral, shells, Pisces, star urchins, and starfish while introducing an enchanting new element: the sea anemone. Various stone variations and intricate cuts are employed to infuse depth into each unique design, brilliantly capturing the vibrancy of the ocean. For instance, there’s an exceptional shell necklace featuring an astonishing array of custom-cut diamonds, totaling over 50 carats, each with distinct shapes and sizes. Within this exquisite shell, a magnificent black opal, weighing more than 19 carats, can be attached as an alternative pendant.

The occasion wasn’t just a celebration of the prestigious 178-year history of Blue Book collections but also a groundbreaking inaugural partnership among these LVMH brands. In this season, the Blue Book collection represents a blend of the past and the present, setting the stage for a future where Tiffany & Co.’s enduring legacy continues to radiate brilliantly worldwide.
