Ode to Elegance: Stephane Rolland’s Haute Couture Tribute to Maria Callas

Stephane Rolland’s Fall Winter 2023-2024 Haute Couture fashion show at the iconic Opéra Garnier in Paris paid a stunning tribute to the legendary opera singer Maria Callas on her 100th birth anniversary. The collection exuded dramatic elegance and captured the essence of 1960s Parisian glam and sophistication.

Renowned French director Claude Lelouch, an admirer of Rolland’s work, collaborated with the designer to capture the essence of the collection on film. The footage will be featured in Lelouch’s upcoming movie, “Finalement,” showcased at a state dinner at the Opéra Garnier ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Rolland’s creations showcased minimalist and graphic silhouettes, characterized by bold cubic volumes that conveyed both strength and fragility. The predominantly black and white color palette was complemented by touches of red and gold, adding an air of opulence and refinement.

With meticulous tailoring and creative craftsmanship, Rolland presented 31 breathtaking dresses in the collection. Each ensemble exuded sophistication and was ideal for an evening at the opera or a glamorous night out in the city. Standout pieces included a trapeze dress adorned with delicate porcelain flower embroidery and a long, strapless black dress featuring an intricately designed false diamond fan plastron.

In a grand celebration of Maria Callas’ commanding presence, Rolland’s collection flawlessly embodied the timeless allure of Parisian haute couture, making it a memorable ode to the legendary opera singer.
