Elevating Couture: Dior’s Sacred Fusion of Fashion and Divinity

Maria Grazia Chiuri, the Creative Director of Dior women’s lines, has embraced a return to sacred origins and the merging of couture with the body. Inspired by artist Marta Roberti, who draws on the iconographies of goddesses, Chiuri has adopted a poetic gesture that merges dress and body. Models, in a hieratic sequence, embody the divine beings that have shaped the world. The collection showcases a vertical silhouette with flat shoes, featuring colors like white, beige, silver, and pale gold. Jackets and coats are structured with pleats reminiscent of classical statues, while pearls symbolize purity in intricate embroideries.

The revival of shimmering textures from the sixties adorns long skirts and dresses. Wool and cashmere take prominence, and capes reminiscent of sacred garments enhance the ensembles. Pleating, including on men’s jacket sleeves, plays a significant role. By perpetuating the cult of the goddess and reinterpreting antiquity’s emblems, the fashion show becomes a contemporary ritual, illustrating the strength and fragility of femininity that unites the community. This homage to the past guides us towards a future vision marked by sensitivity and attention to detail.
