In a dramatic unveiling, the CELINE Women’s Summer 2024 collection steps into the spotlight through a recently premiered video, officially named “LA COLLECTION DE LA BIBLIOTHÈQUE NATIONALE.”
Filmed under the direction of CELINE’s own Hedi Slimane, the video presents a collection that seamlessly melds elements of fashion, history, literature, and architecture. This exhibition underscores the brand’s unwavering dedication to quality, innovation, and timeless elegance. The CELINE 19 Women Summer 24 video was shot at various iconic locations in Paris, including the Bibliothèque Nationale’s “Salle de Lecture du Département des Manuscrits et de la Musique,” “Salle Labrouste,” “Cour Turbeuf,” “Cour d’Honneur,” “Passage Choiseul,” and the Bir-Hakeim Bridge.
Presenting a collection that combines modern classics with eye-catching bags like Lola, Victoire, Mini Chain Claude, and Polly models, the show coincidentally took place right across the street from the CELINE Ateliers on Rue Vivienne in Paris’s 2nd district. The location, initially a royal library, evolved into a national library after the French Revolution, safeguarding the royal collections spanning from the Middle Ages to the contemporary era.
The “Cour d’Honneur” is a showcase of French architectural evolution, housing structures from various time periods. The 18th-century façade, crafted by architect Robert de Cotte, harmoniously coexists with the neoclassical southern and western wings envisioned by Henri Labrouste. The entrance to the “Salle de Lecture du Département des Manuscrits et de la Musique” is gracefully defined by the “Galerie de Verre,” an architectural creation by Bruno Gaudin.
The creative influence extends beyond the attire to encompass the makeup and hair styling of the models, with makeup artist Aaron De Mey and hairstylist Esther Langham at the helm. Of particular note, the video features the distinctive presence of both Stella Rose and Esther-Rose McGregor. Hedi Slimane also photographed musician Stella Rose in New York in 2023, while Esther-Rose McGregor, a talented young actress with British-American roots, added her unique charm to the video.
The video includes a unique soundtrack, featuring an extended rendition of “Too Much Love” by LCD Soundsystem. This track originally comes from their inaugural album, released in January 2005, and continues to exert a significant influence in the domain of indie electronic music.
Through a partnership with Master & Dynamic, models in the video sport leather headphones featuring the iconic CELINE Triomphe logo, infusing an element of opulence into the presentation. The collection commences and concludes with “Tomboy” ensembles, underscoring Hedi Slimane’s expertise in androgynous tailoring.
In collaboration with Master & Dynamic, the video showcases models wearing leather headphones adorned with the iconic CELINE Triomphe emblem, introducing a touch of luxury to the overall presentation. The collection opens and closes with “Tomboy” outfits, emphasizing Hedi Slimane’s skill in crafting androgynous tailored looks.
