The Dior Fall 2023 collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri was unveiled on March 30 at the Gateway of India in Mumbai after nightfall. The collection is a tribute to the subcontinent’s crafts and colors, and it features soft, layered silhouettes, sari-inspired draping, archival motifs, and the exceptional handwork of the Chanakya ateliers. The collection is a blend of Indian culture and textile prowess with the House’s devotion to savoir-faire excellence. Oliver Coates composed and conducted the live music for the Dior Fall 2023 show, with tablas and multi-percussions by Anuradha Pal, and Indian instruments by Imran Khan, Chetan Joshi, Sangeet Mishra, and Tushar Raturi. The Symphony Orchestra of India also performed during the show. The music contained excerpts of ‘Speaking In Tongues I’ and ‘Om Namaha Shiva’ by Sheila Chandra. The show celebrates new creative dialogues between Dior and India, as it conveys Maria Grazia Chiuri’s appreciation for India and its heritage of fine craftsmanship.
