Giambattista Valli Haute Couture Fall Winter 2023

Valli, an Italian designer, was long ago chosen as a deserving participant in the haute couture fashion week in Paris because of his excellent knowledge of procedures. He showed us such an expressionistic display of beautiful opera jackets composed primarily of a coiled feather, little gowns made largely of swags of glittering jewelry, intricate silver and paillette stitching, and textured 3-D floral embroidery to serve as an example as to why that was the case.

A gorgeous parade of ostrich, as well as crystal-trimmed gowns with wonderfully large reflective butterfly sunglasses and enormous sparkly dangling earrings, made up the inaugural all-white ensembles, which he perceived as being “simple.” In keeping with the aristo-dos created by Mr. Kenneth of New York and Alexandre de Paris, there were puffed-up hair extensions all of which were lacquered and beribboned. There were several, diverse silhouettes featuring shifting dimensions. Sleeves blew across the shoulders, and dresses were broad, constructed in layers like stacked desserts, or fitted, then abruptly fanned out in a flash of teal, yellow, or pink at the bottom. Vali is an incredible designer who has created an incredible line of ensembles.
