This year’s exhibition “Camp: Notes on Fashion” was inspired by Susan Sontag’s seminal essay “Notes on Camp”, defining camp as the love of the frivolous, the unnatural, artifice and exaggeration. Co-host Serena Williams‘ #MetGala look is crafted from innovative fabric with fluorescent properties. The boustier corset dress, detachable skirt and draped cape feature appliqué of the heritage Ivy motif – embroidered in organza with thread and Swarovski crystals Kylie Jenner attends the Met Gala in a strapless Atelier Versace mermaid silhouette gown with a feather trim and matching hat.
